Weekend trip to Diamond harbour, a small fishing village just one and half hour train ride down south from Kolkata

Normal is a statement.....not always boring!

...You don't often see an aquarium inside a tea-stall!

A van rickshaw ride to the 'notun jetty': van rickshaws are common
public transport in the small towns and villages near kolkata
our very own river reaching out for the sea
Fishing nets being repaired...has to be done each time
a trawler returns from it's 7-10 days fishing trip to the estuary...

....And hence a lot of damaged fishing nets end up in the shades looking
like a water stream...photographed in a low shutter-speed...

Crows proxied the Gulls

Note the plastic hand-pump!

Propeller repairing going on

Low tide

The day comes to an end

But hold on.....there's more to it...
a trawler is approaching the harbor
Casting anchor

A lot of things going on at once...involving so many people

And  freshly caught hilsa! tonnes of it in the hold! they took the ice
along with them....with no freezer, they kept
it solid for 10 days with the help of salt

They were still unloading while I left to catch the last train back home
